reasons.

I'm going to be taking a few days off from the blog and there are two main reasons why.

The first one, breaks my heart.  I found out yesterday morning that my cat, my little girl, Batman, has to be put to sleep.  She has lymphoma and the vet says it has spread everywhere to the point that even if they operated, it would be futile.  So they said she may live another week (!) or two months but they doubt longer than that.  I can't even begin to explain how devastated I am.  My Batman has gotten me through some very lonely times and has always been there to cuddle me.  I'm so sad to think of her being sick and about how she may be in pain.  I will most likely be putting her to sleep in early September because I don't want her to be in pain any longer than she needs to be.  Anyone that has had to put a pet to sleep that they loved knows how genuinely heart breaking it can be.  They are a member of your family, a piece of your heart.  And my life just won't be the same without her.

Left: My little girl loved to sleep on my lap while I was working.
Right: This is how she helps me stuff wedding gift bags.

My cousin Allison (hi Al!) told me something though that makes me feel just a bit better.  She told me to think of what a great life Batman had with me, and about how now she'll be in heaven snuggled up in my Grandma's arms (my Grandma died just about a year ago).  So my Grandma will be taking care of her.  And they're both so feisty I'm sure they'll love each other!

And now onto the second reason- one that fills my heart with joy (I'm a conflict of emotions right now obviously). The Fiance and I are off to Traverse City, MI for the long weekend.  One of Brandon's very best friends is getting married and we are so excited to be there to celebrate with them.  (Brandon is also in the wedding, so I finally get to see him in a suit!).  So I'll be off traveling, trying to piece together my heart, and getting a little romance in with my best friend.  So to Sean and Anna, I am wishing you a LIFETIME of happiness, and thank you so much for asking us to be there with you.

(Stolen from Anna's Facebook page)

I hope that you all have a really wonderful long weekend.

Poor Batman and deepest sympathies to you.. just enjoy the last bit of time yo have together. Losing a fur baby is heartbreaking, they really are a part of the family. But thinking of Batman snuggling up with your grandmother is a lovely way to look at it!

Am so sorry to hear about your cat, I've never had a pet like that, but when my Grandmother's dog (she passed away earlier this year) had to be put to sleep when I was young, I was quite upset. He was precious. So, I can understand you. He will be in no pain now and I know your Grandmother will take good care of him for you. Lots of love & hugs to you doll xx

Aw hunny I'm so very sorry to hear about your fur baby. They absolutely are family and sadly they don't last forever... they are in our lives for such a short time and bring such incredibly joy and happiness it's hard to imagine life without them. I'm sure you gave Batman the best life - and you'll see him again someday :) I can't imagine how you must be feeling...

Love you BBF!! Your kitty is so lucky to have such a wonderful mommy - though if you're like me, you probably consider yourself the lucky one. Hang in there - I'm here for you!

I went through the same thing one year ago (almost to the day) with my kitty, Katie. She was in severe kidney failure and I could just see the pain in her eyes.
I ultimately decided to let her go and be with our other animals in Heaven and with her last look as they put her to sleep, I could see her look at me and say "Thank you" with her eyes.

Oh geeze, now I'm crying at work! My thoughts and prayers are with you my dear. It's not easy and you shouldn't pretend it is.
Take all the time you need off, we understand and love you. If you need to talk, you have my email!

I'm so sorry about Batman. One day you'll tell people about her and smile about all the times you had, rather than want to cry.

Mama, I am so sorry to hear about your cat but Batman will be in a better place and will become your special little guard (cat) angel. Also you and the honey have fun this weekend and I can't wait to hear (read) everything when you get back. Happy Labor Day Weekend!

I am so sorry to hear you'll have to put batman to sleep. I know she is suffering, and I know you'll be so sad to send her off, but remember cat does have 9 lives and she'll come back to you.

those are two very good reasons, and I'm glad there is a happy one in there. I remember losing the cat that I grew up with. It was really really hard. we recently moved across country and our new kitty that we've had for almost 6 years, we just couldn't take. He was a rescue and we just didn't feel like moving him across the country was an option and I'm sad all over again, even though he is very happy. I hope you find peace soon and also enjoy a beautiful wedding

I am so beyond sorry to hear about your kitty. Trust me, I totally understand how broken your heart is. I think you're doing the right thing by taking a little time off to deal with things. And I'm glad to hear you also have a happy event this weekend. Enjoy yourself!
