{Lookbook} Style Review

I started Coming Unstitched in late August, 2011.  It took me awhile before I was ready to post my outfit photos {especially in light of the fact that I just don't change out of pajamas or gym clothes every day}.  But even so, I thought I'd do a quick style recap of my posts from this year.  2012 promises more looks into my wardrobe... and hopefully a new job to wear them to!  Maybe 2012 will even bring me a new pose!  Do you have a favorite look?

Want my tall brown boots?  Get them here.

Want the leather leggings?  Get them here.  How about the red booties?  Get them here!  And the love birds scarf?  Here.

You can buy the shoes I'm wearing here.

I hope you all have a very wonderful New Years Eve.  Please be safe and I'll talk to you all on Monday!

Links a la Mode: IFB Weekly Roundup

Hey guys!  I was lucky enough to be featured on Links a la Mode this week.  Check out the post below and the other blogs listed!

Holiday Leftovers

Edited by Taylor Davies

I think you better just conk me upside the head with a Christmas tree, this holiday season has done a doozie on me! I've gone into total vacation mode, away from New York City, away from the office and deep into the mountains of Idaho. As far away as I am physically, I can't escape our blogging community! (Not that I would want to, mind you.) I'm constantly reading, checking in, and scanning twitter to make sure I don't miss anything good. I'm so impressed with all of our community members who are balancing their family holiday time with keeping their blogs up to date and sharing their posts on the Links a la Mode board. Here's a sampling of the festive, fun and creative posts from this week.

Party Dresses at Shopbop: Tucker Dresses, 10 Crosby, BE & D, Three Dots, James Perse, Peter Som, Elleryland, Alberta Ferretti, Michelle Mason, Just Cavalli, Marchesa, Casual & Sweater Dresses.

Happy (almost) New Year to all my beautiful readers.  I can't tell you how wonderful your response and comments have been.  I've really loved getting to know you all and gaining so much inspiration.  Going into the New Year I of course have a lot of personal goals since 2012 is going to be such a big year for me.

I want to find a new job that I love (this is one of the most important things),
I want to get in shape for our wedding,
I want to learn to budget better so The Fiance and I can have everything we want,
I want to plan the best wedding that really speaks to US as a couple,
I want to remember why we're getting married in the first place when things get crazy,
I want to learn passable Italian so we can better communicate while in Italy for our honeymoon,
And I want to really enjoy the wedding planning phase with my fiance, my family, and my friends.

{Yes, I realize most of this has to do with the wedding but ya gotta admit, it's a pretty big event for me next year.}

But more importantly (to you all), I have goals that I'd like to achieve with my blog.  I feel that I've come such a long way in just 4 months and I hope to only continue to grow with your support.  These are a few of my blogger goals.

I'd like to increase readership to over 1,000 readers.  I currently have close to 550 between all platforms- Google Friend Connect, Facebook, Twitter, Bloglovin' and email.  But I'd love to get my blog out to more people.
I'd like to begin taking better quality outfit pictures to post for you all.
I'd like to begin taking more risks with my clothes- step out of my comfort zone.
I'd like to work with brands that I really love to help expose both my blog and their brand.
I'd like to feature some of my favorite bloggers a couple times a month,
Finally, I'd like to learn a better way to connect with YOU all.  I've loved getting to know you guys but want to find a much better way.

My blog isn't anything without you guys and I really do appreciate you from the bottom of my heart.  I am so looking forward to 2012 and am hoping that you'll all continue on this journey with me.

What are YOUR goals for 2012??
I hope that you all have a wonderful New Years.  And I hope that 2012 brings you all that you could ever want and hope for.  Be loved, be safe, and be peaceful.

{Lookbook} Dressy Casual

{Want to buy the shoes I'm wearing?  Click here.}

One of my loyal readers suggested that for this Project: Get Dressed dealio that I have going on that I should try to get dressed twice a week (gasp!), one as a casual day, one as a dressier day.  Since I know that'll NEVER happen (at least until I have to venture out into the real world every day), this is my attempt at compromise for her this week.  (Be sure to check out The Leather Skirt blog.)

In my attempt to compromise I started out with this body conscious skirt I recently got (that part is for my reader).  I then paired it with my new handkerchief hem long sleeve t-shirt (that part is for me).  This might be my new favorite shirt since it is SO comfortable.  {It is also too big, I need to remind myself that I am a size small.}  These shoes?  Also new, and surprisingly comfortable.  They were the piece that kept my outfit from being too boring.  I then added just a couple extra accessories that keep with the overall color scheme.

So, do you like my compromise?  It's part casual, part dressy.  Win/win, yes?  And, I'm sure The Fiance enjoyed coming home and seeing me in a skirt since it is a rare occasion.  Also?  I finally feel like I have long legs.  {In actuality, I do not.}

Side note: It's cold out.  Good thing I'm not going outside in this skirt!

{What I'm Wearing}
Top: Forever21
Skirt and Shoes: Charlotte Russe (here and here)
Necklace: ModCloth
Watch: Kohls

I love this necklace from  ModCloth.  It is so interesting looking
and I feel like it adds edge to any outfit.

This wrap around watching I got a couple years ago is awesome.
Unfortunately even on the smallest setting it's still a bit big.
O'well, such is the life of a small wristed girl.

These shoes are surprisingly comfortable.  I could probably
even wear them all night.  Who knew?!

In case you're wondering {you probably aren't}, no, I didn't keep this on all night.  When The Fiance and I went to grab some grub {an expression I don't understand}, I threw on my pair of trusty American Eagle skinny jeans and Charlotte Russe boots to combat the 3 inches of snow on the ground.  Like? {Sorry the picture isn't so great.}

Come back tomorrow to take a peek into my goals for the New Year... Can't wait for 2012!

Saying Our Vows: Save the Dates Inspiration

The Fiance and I have ordered our Save the Date cards and are in the process of gathering addresses to send them out.  The Knot recommends that you send the cards out 6-8 months prior to your wedding.  However, we'll be sending ours a bit earlier.  Since EVERY SINGLE GUEST will have to travel to Pittsburgh we want to give people plenty of notice and opportunity to save for the weekend.  In addition, our reception is being held about a half hour from Heinz Field {home of the Pittsburgh Steelers} during football season and we won't know until summer if there is a home game that weekend.  We want to make sure our guests are able to book hotel rooms before they're all taken up.

I'd love to show you our Save the Dates, but can't just yet.  Once we've sent them out to our guests in late January or early February I'll be sure to show you all.  They're cute, simple and we're very happy with them.  But for now, take a look at these super adorable Save the Dates I found on Etsy.

{Mix and Match} New Years Eve Dress

I want to start this post by showing you one of my favorite comments I've ever gotten:

On Light Packing: A Mix & Match Extravaganza, Meghan commented:
So I blame this post for the new patent red heels I bought at F21 this week...I am wearing them tonight for Christmas Eve dinner and gift exchange with the hubby's family. With of course an out fit inspired by #3 with a blazer and all. My husband was a good sport (albeit surprised) when I told him I bought new shoes expressly due to a blog. Lol. Merry Christmas, Sarah!
You can visit her blog at The Megha Mix.
{I really liked this comment because I love knowing that I'm inspiring you guys.  It's the reason I do this blog and the reason I'm so passionate about it.  So thank you Meghan for inspiring ME to keep doing what I'm doing!}

What are you all doing for New Years?  I'll be spending the evening with my future brothers and sisters in laws and a couple other friends.  I was strictly told that I am to wear comfy clothes {thanks Billie Jo} and that I'm not allowed in if I'm dressed up.  Hmpf.  So to live vicariously through you all I thought I'd put together a mix and match set if you're not sure what to wear for the evening.

We all have a little black dress {and if you don't, you need one immediately} so just pull that out of the closet and depending on the type of party you're heading to, these are some options to make it New Years appropriate.  Each item below is $50 or less and can be found by clicking on the picture.

New Years

Item: Little Black Dress, $39, dorothyperkins.com
Outfit 1: All Out Glam & Sparkle.  If you really want to shine on New Years, use all sparkly accessories.    Find heels with a bit of sparkle, a beautiful statement necklace and sequin bag.  For a little extra warmth throw a sequin cardigan over the top of your dress.

Outfit 2: Downtown Chic.  For a slightly cooler, downtown take on the dress, throw on tights and a pair of  metallic booties.  A hot pink clutch and goldenrod scarf adds beautiful color and use gold and black accessories.  Top it off with a cool textured jacket for the cold air.

Outfit 3: Rockstar Glamour.  To feel a bit more badass, use studded and chain accessories.  Wrap a knotted belt around your waist and use a studded bag and chain link earrings.  Let your studded nude heels be the standout piece.  Add an extra layer with a worn leather jacket.

What will you be wearing as we enter 2012?

{Lookbook} Leather Leggings and Some Presents

I hope you all had a really wonderful holiday with family and friends.  Though my weekend was short {unfortunately I'm working today, are any of you??} I had a wonderful Christmas with my family.  Christmas Eve morning The Fiance and I opened gifts at our house together.  He got me two great sweaters, a beautiful cobalt blue coat and Clean perfume from Sephora.  {I got him a really cool watch -- that I'd like to steal -- and some Steelers gifts, including a leather luggage tag for our honeymoon to Italy!}

Later in the day we made the drive to Toledo to spend the evening with The Fiance's family.  Santa made a pit stop to see the kids and we had a white elephant gift exchange which was really fun {I totally made out in the exchange by being the only Cleveland Browns fan -- I was given a Browns wreath, a Browns bulb and in the end, a table air hockey game that I was eyeballing}.

Christmas Eve look

{What I'm Wearing}
Sweater: Gift from The Fiance
Leggings: Charlotte Russe
Heels: Victoria's Secret
Headband: Giant Eagle
Earrings: Too old to remember
Bag and Ring: Chanel

For the evening I wore a new sweater from The Fiance with my new leather leggings and basic black heels.  {Side note, The Fiance wasn't sure I would like the sweater -- but it was black, oversized and super soft -- wins all around!}  To add a hint of sparkle I wore a sequin headband and a Chanel ring.  {The best sparkle of all?  My engagement ring of course!}  I was super comfortable all night and the sweater let me hide my food baby pretty well.  {Plus, I looked like a rock star!}

Christmas Eve accessories

On Christmas morning we woke up at my Mom's house for my family Christmas.  I got fantastic gifts from my Mom and got to hang out with my brother and sister in law.  We got to do our tradition of watching The Grinch while eating cheesesticks and drinking mimosas {don't ask}.  The best part of the day was asking my brother to walk me down the aisle when I get married and him telling me that he'd love to.  We then went to meet up with some other family members at my Papas house {it was important to remind him that he wasn't alone since my Grandma died in September}.

Christmas Day outfit

{What I'm Wearing}
Sweater: Victoria's Secret
Tank: Deb
Jeans: American Eagle
Booties, Scarf, Aqua Ring: Charlotte Russe

I wore my black skinny jeans with my new red booties {with Christmas appropriate bows} and my super comfy khaki sweater {which can also be seen here}.  To add a bit more to the look I added my new "love birds" scarf, which was super appropriate since I was feeling so much love all weekend.  All in all it was an amazing weekend and I always come home feeling so lucky to have these people in my life.  I hope you all had just an amazing of a weekend as I did.  {Check out the pictures below of me and my beautiful Mama, and me and the guy who next Christmas will be my HUSBAND.}
